INTEGRATION OF TWO DIODE MODEL PHOTOVOLTAIC CELL & WIND ENERGY SYSTEM WITH BETTER EFFICIENCY

  • Abstract
    This paper exhibits an alternative way of generating power. Solar and wind are the sources which
    are used for generating power. DC output of PV (photovoltaic) cell and converted dc output of WECS (Wind
    Energy Conversion System) are fed to a common DC bus. Photovoltaic cell based on two-diode model is used
    with reduced four parameters which act as a constant source of voltage and does not show non-linear behavior.
    Two- diode model increases the accuracy and efficiency of the system while its integration with WECS makes it
    more reliable. System employs buck-boost converter and to increase the efficiency of PV arrangement up to
    appropriate level and its operation at maximal power point P&O MPPT algorithm is used. The behavior of
    system is verified using MATLAB/Simulink.
