ANALYSIS OF DATA SECURITY FOR MEDICAL IMAGES

Ms. Pushpanjali Singh, Dr. Harsh Vikram Singh.

Abstract
With the advancement of technology and digital information, the security, privacy and
confidentiality of medical data is very crucial because medical image data are widely distributed over the public
channel (internet). This has greatly improved the telemedicine area and provide a low cost, remote pre-diagnosis
model to extend expert medical support in the remotest regions with limited medical facilities. Maintaining
medical data integrity, confidentiality and authorized use while storing, transmitting and utilizing medical
images is of great concern as the medical images are sensitive and private data and tempering with it is a high
risk to life. The need for the securing medical images over internet is of utmost importance and ever growing.
Traditional methods like cryptography, steganography and watermarking are used for the protection of medical
information. This paper discusses several image security techniques and its classification done in last few years.
The survey and analysis on these methods are used to identify the research gap for future security of medical
images and also provides a point for future research directions.

Key words: Medical Images, Image Security, E healthcare, Watermarking, Steganography, cryptography
