STUDY OF ELECTRICAL DISCHARGE DRILLING MACHINING ON NICKEL BASED ALLOY

Abstract
In present research, the influence of electrical discharge operation parameters on the drilling rate
(DR) and electrode wear ratio (EWR) of Nimonic 90 using Taguchi method and ANOVA analysis. The
influence of input process parameters, namely, electrode materials (EM), pulse off time (Toff), pulse on time
(Ton) and discharge current (Ip) have been studied on the performance characteristics, viz. DR to be maximized
and EWR to be minimized. A set of optimized machining indicators has been recommended to attain the
required performance characteristics. The confirmatory results exhibited that the experimental results are
analogous to the predicted values for all the performance characteristics.
