  • Abstract
    In the present times where we need to think that what kind of future we are shaping with our
    current action, the need of sustainable energy is more than ever necessary for the brighter future and that's why
    the usage of wind energy utilizing wind turbines is an essential issue because it is a source of sustainable energy
    and contributes about 10% of the total energy produced in India. The wind turbine has been around us for a very
    long time. The first was in the form of windmills and were used for grinding the grains into flour. But now, with
    the advancement in technology, they are used for a wider and useful perspective of generating electricity in the
    form of wind turbines. Thus, it is no doubt that the use of a wind turbine for harnessing wind energy is
    beneficial for mankind. Based on this the current paper examines the developments or advancements in the
    design and operation of modern horizontal axis wind turbines for improved performance.

    Key words: Sustainable Energy Source, renewable energy, wind energy, wind turbines, HAWT.
