Abstract
The current study aimed at highlighting the positive contributions of self-reflected strategy employed by novice writers of EFL through journalistic questions to enhance their flow of ideas in the prewriting stage. A single group pretest-posttest experimental design was used in the study to verify the effectiveness of journalistic questions to enhance the students‟ skills in organizing and developing ideas completely and fluently to compose a fluent paragraph. The design was selected due to the fact that there was only one writing class consisting of only few students (intensive writing class). The study found out that journalistic question self-reflected strategy created a stress-free atmosphere in a writing class, thereby developing the students' positive attitudes toward writing. The adequate information collected through journalistic self-questioning facilitated the students to design a detailed paragraph outline, which in turn, helped them to write coherent paragraphs. A significant difference was found between the novice writers' paragraph fluency before and after the treatment. The study concludes that making journalistic questions to generate information in the prewriting stage enhances the novice writers' skills to write a well-unified paragraph. Teachers, therefore, should not trivialize journalistic questions and should not skip the prewriting stage in teaching writing for novice writers as a means of developing the students‟ positive attitudes, critical thinking and curiosity.

Key words: fluent paragraph, journalistic question, paragraph outline, writing attitude, novice writer, EFL, teaching writing
