OPTIMIZED DYNAMIC CLUSTERING TO IMPROVE THE NETWORK EFFICIENCY IN IOV (INTERNET OF VEHICLES)

Abstract
VANET (Vehicular-ad-hoc-network) is a developing technology in intelligent transport schemes
(ITS). Internet of vehicles (IoV) is the division of internet of things that utilizes the communication between
vehicles. Generally, there is the sudden alteration in topology due to the increased mobility rate of the vehicles.
These alterations may lead to some problems in IoV such as scalability, dynamic topology change, shortest-path
routing. Hence, some of the noticeable features such as high flexibility, irregular spatial dissemination of the
vehicles may influence the clustering performance. However, the maintenance and development of the static
clusters has become a challenging issue in VANET. This paper focused on the cluster formation approach to
providing reliable and efficient data message transmission in VANET. Moreover, the main goal of research is to
study and analyse different clustering and position based routing protocols used in internet of vehicles (IoV).
Moreover, an optimized dynamic clustering algorithm is developed using an optimized clustering algorithm,
along with enhanced data transmission in IoV. The experimental analysis is done by executing and comparing
the performance metrics like as a packet delivery rate(PDR) is 93.4 %, transmission delay(TD) is 324 ms,
information coverage (IC) is 96 %, and network efficiency(NE) value is 98 %.

Key words: VANET, RSUs, IoV, DC (Dynamic Clustering) Algorithm and Optimized Dynamic Clustering.
