MUSIC RECOMMENDATION USING FACIAL EMOTION DETECTION AND CLASSIFICATION

Abstract
The human face is one of the most important parts of the anatomical body. It plays a great role in knowing the emotional status or the mood of the person. The mood of the person can be predicted, up to a certain accuracy, with the help of certain features visible on the face. With today’s technologies, extracting or filtering the inputs can be done directly with the help of a webcam or an external device along with a few softwares. This input can further be used for many applications and further studies. These technologies can be used to extract the moods of the user and those moods can be stored in a database.This information might then be used to make a group or pre-made playlists of songs and audio tracks that match the mood or the emotion generated from the information and data which was gathered. This reduces the time-consuming, conventionalmethod of manually selecting songs, orrefining them into playlists and helps to create a suitable playlist based on the emotional status or the mood of the person. We aim to study various algorithms for automating the playlist generation process and build a software to recommend music with the help of emotion detection. Facial expression Based Music Player is programmed to search and interpret the data and thus create a playlist based on the rules or the parameters provided. Browsing and decoding involves detection and classification of audio features to obtain a list of songs belonging to a specific genre, or to obtain a list of similar sounding or lyrical themes. The algorithms will also check for key-words in the songs which are generally associated with the basic emotions. This paper mainly focuses on what are the methodologies available for detecting human emotions to create music players based on emotions, and these are methods used to identify emotions by the open music players. We have also researched the process by which our music player recognizes human emotions, and how our emotion detection system is best used[1].
