PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS OF DIFFERENT CLASSIFICATION ALGORITHMS: NAVE BAYES, DECISION TREE AND K-STAR

Abstract
Applying classification to organize variety of data into the predefined categories is most preferred technique of data mining. There are number of classification algorithms found in the literature and widely applied on variety of applications including healthcare, agricultural, transport, etc. The same algorithm does not give the best performance to all he applications. So suitability of an algorithm to a particular application needs to be identified. This paper focuses on the application of the classification algorithms like Nave Bayes, Decision Tree and K-star to the diabetes dataset. The dataset is collected from UCI Machine Learning Repository and experiments are performed by using WEKA tool. The experimental results of these algorithms are analyzed in terms of different performance measures like Precision, Recall, F-measure, Accuracy, etc. After the comparative analysis of the results of these classifiers, Nave Bayes has outperformed the rest two classifiers.
