PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS OF MRC-MINEC WITH PERFECT CSI

Abstract
In this paper, a two-way relay network is used which comprises of two sources each having a single transceiver antenna and a relay node having two transceiver antennas. As a MIMO system is formed, thus, multiple paths exist between the transmitter and receiver. For carrying out the transmission between the two sources, these available spatial paths can be utilized in different ways with the ultimate goal to minimize the bit error rate. Various space-diversity combining techniques namely Selection combining (SC), Switch-stay Combining (SSC) and Maximal ratio combining (MRC) are discussed and their error performances are simulated. In addition, the performance comparison of SC is depicted for perfect CSI (channel-state information) and imperfect CSI. Also the performance variation of SSC is demonstrated for various values of switching threshold. It is noticed using MATLAB simulations that the bit error rate is minimum in MRC as compared to other techniques and more specifically improvement using MRC as compared to SC is 0.97 times at 6dB SNR and improvement using MRC as compared to single antenna case is 1.08 times at SNR level of 2dB.
