DIFFERENT DESIGNING METHODOLOGY OF μm AND nm CMOS TECHNOLOGY BASED LNA FOR mm-WAVE

Abstract
A Low noise amplifier is a paramount important part of RF receiver circuit after the antenna. A low-noise amplifier is a electronics circuit, can amplify a very low voltage and power signal coming from the antenna without degraded its SNR. A LNA increases the level of power of the input signal and noise present, as well as it also introduces some extra noise in the main signal. The challenging task of any designers of low-noise amplifier is to minimize this additional noise by selecting such a component which produces low-noise, operates at low voltage and consumed small power in the circuit. A wideband CMOS LNA integrations technology is the best suited technology for setting up the configuration of radio receivers and radio signal transmitters, because of its properties as low power consumption, very low cost, and good integration ability to the circuits. This technology is best suited for mobile systems, optical communication, medical instruments, electronic testing equipment etc. A good low-noise amplifier can provide a power gain up to 100 (20 dB) and can reduces the SNR by less than two (a 3 dB NF (noise figure)). Although CMOS LNA design are mainly focused on very low signals whose are just above from the noise floor, but the designing must also to be focused on the presence of higher frequency signals, cause inter modulation distortion. A good LNA design provides low noise, high power gain, high matching of input impedance, low power dissipation, and high stability of the amplifier. This review paper provides the idea about the different designing methodology and optimizing techniques of μm and nm CMOS LNA for Millimeter waves.
