EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATION OF FACTORS AFFECTING SPOT WELDING OF SAE 1010 MATERIAL

Abstract
Resistance Spot Welding has progressively gains popularity because of its ability of joining various types of materials with high precision and better accuracy. Resistance Spot Welding (RSW) is time efficient due to its high speed, its takes fraction of seconds to weld, cleanest of all the welding processes. It is the most proficient welding process and extensively used for sheet metal fabrication. It has gained importance in the field of automobile industry due to adaptability to automation, high speed and control of welding parameters. In automobile industry new safety measures like door impact beams, impact resistance bumpers and other equipment like air conditioning, emission control devices the weight of vehicles has increased, so automobile manufacturers are now interested in the materials having higher strength to weight ratio. RSW is capable to provide such advantages over other processes. The aim of our study is to investigate the factors affecting spot welding of SAE 1010 sheet material.
