PRIVACY ISSUES AND TREPIDATION ABOUT SOCIAL MEDIA ADAPTATIONS AMONGST COLLEGE GIRLS

Abstract
Social media is shaping society. This widely held belief is substantiated by the fact that over 2.6
billion monthly active users of almost every nooks and corners of the world are using Facebook only in the first
quarter of 2020. Connectivity paves the path for communication that certainly results in a change in behaviour,
attitude and Values. Certainly, there are many pros of social media, but cons do exist. Misuse of personal
information, trolling, and fishing have emerged as new challenges of the cyber world. This research is an
attempt to know the perception of Facebook user girls regarding the apprehensions related to personal
information, trolling and other kinds of cybercrimes. Survey method has been used to meet the objectives. The
finding indicates that social environment or sociocultural context is an effective element that changes the
opinion or perception of people.

Key words: Mirror Image, Impersonation, Socio-cultural Context, Trolling and Fishing on Facebook.
