AGEING WORKFORCE MANAGEMENT IN MANUFACTURING SECTOR: STUDY AMONG COIMBATORE INDUSTRIES

Abstract
It is known factor that manufacturing sector has a growing problem with its aging workforce,
partly because of the outdated perspective where one might go to work in an old factory, making sure screw.
The study attempted to analysis the ageing workforce management in manufacturing systems. The ageing
workforce management assessed in the ten areas such as attitude toward diversity, corporate culture,
discrimination, hiring and recruitment, career development, role of participation, policies and procedures,
interaction with immediate supervisor and diversity training program. For obtaining the objective, the study
collected data from 190 responses from employees who working the manufacturing industries in Coimbatore. A
structured questionnaire developed to collect opinion from the respondents about ageing the workforce
management aspects. The collected responses were analyses with SPSS. Therefore, manufacturing system, as
well as policy makers at national and business levels, have to deal with the challenge of addressing these
changes in the human resource markets and, above all, with their implications for the work conditions.
