Measuring Intellectual Capital Efficiency of CNX Nifty Companies

Abstract
Management and measurement of intellectual capital is more important for the organizations which in return provide competitive advantage and helpful in framing polices and business strategies. Recently, firms depends more on intangible assets (human capital, structural capital and relational capital) than tangible assets (financial capital) for value creation in more efficient manner. And efficient management of intangible assets (intellectual capital) is more important to take the advantage of competitive in this knowledge era. In this article, an attempt has been made to evaluate and measure the performance of intangible assets (intellectual capital) of CNX Nifty companies listed on NSE. Study also tries to analyze, which element of (intangible assets) intellectual capital is the preeminent analyst of firmís performance by using pulic VAICTM model for the period of five years (2014-15 to 2018-19). The findings of the present study depict some important and interesting results, which break the myth that intellectual capital (intangible assets) are more significant for knowledge-intensive companies but in present study it is found that some of the top IT companies and pharmaceutical firms (market capitalization) shows very low average value added coefficient (VAIC) score such as (Tata consultancy services ltd., Infosys Ltd., Tech Mahindra Ltd. and Wipro Ltd.). Companies belong to financial services such as Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd., Coal India Ltd. and Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd. (special economic zones) are best performances in terms of IC efficiency.
