N. Usha Deepa Sundari, Dr. P. Lakshmi Narayanamma.

Abstract
It is essential for an employee to be accountable to his work and to the organization during the
tenure of his job. Often it looks like the term „Accountability‟ is yesteryear‟s principle by many employees, who
stick to that right from the appointment day, till retirement. But now, the scenario of organizations have been
completely changed and the corporate principles, practices and governance is into action. Taking this
phenomenon into consideration, it is inevitable to discuss on the „Employee Engagement‟, which is today‟s
essential component to bring laurels to the organization and to themselves in return. Employee engagement is an
emotional commitment of employees towards their work, environment and as whole, the entire organization.
This engagement ensures their commitment at work and brings success to the organization. For example, when
an employee is „engaged‟ at work they use discretionary effort. When they feel they are committed, they pick up
waste papers on the floor and put them in dust bin, they pick up tea cups after they drink, they do not wait for
any servant or any instructions to keep clean their surroundings. They stand for their organization because they
create an emotional commitment with it and they try to work to any extent possible to attain the organizational
goals.
Taking „Employee Engagement‟ as a best modern culture adopting by many employees in the present corporate
scenario, the case study is focused on the Information Technology Industry, in Andhra Pradesh.

Key words: Organization, Accountability, Employee Engagement, Corporate Culture and Commitment
