EFFECTIVENESS ANALYSIS OF PROCESS PARAMETERS WHILE MAGNETIC ABRASIVE FINISHING OF EDMED D3 DIE STEEL SURFACE

Abstract
Electric Discharge Machining is a metal removal process using heat of electric discharge has a
capacity of accurate machining harder materials even with complex shapes. The sparks produced while
processing and mlting of metalís surface. Ultra-rapid quenching of molten material forms re-casted hard
layered surface witch has craters and micro cracks causesí poor service life of the parts produced [1]. Most
frequently used conventional process such as fine grinding, buffing for finishing of surfaces in the
industry[2][3] This paper study effective analyses of process parameters while Magnetic Abrasive machining of
EDMed D3 die steel surface. This investigation advocate that Magnetic Abrasive Finishing (MAF) process
improves the quality of EDMed surfaces effectively using sintered Magnetic Abrasives consists of Iron powder
and Diamond particles while studying influence of various parameters such as rotational speed, working gap,
lubricant Quantity and finishing time interval and a new smooth surface can be obtained with roughness
measured 0.038 őľm Ra on its surface
