THE RIGHT OF THE PUBLIC LEGAL PERSON TO OWN INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS UNDER JORDANIAN LAW

Dr.Osamah Al-Naimat, Dr.Bassam al-Trawneh.

Abstract
The issue of public legal person ownership of intellectual property rights (IPRs) has been raised in various countries because of some practical considerations which necessitated discussing whether it is permissible for public legal persons to have such rights or whether they remain confined to natural individuals and private legal persons authorized by law. Based on many practical and realistic justifications, some legal systems in the countries concerned have endorsed to grant a public legal person the ownership rights of (IPRs) because of the nature of their work and the multiplicity of their tasks as general public legal persons working for the public benefit which is the primary objective of the presence of various public facilities such as educational, technical, health, and other facilities. Because of the importance of this topic, this research was conducted to shed light on this issue in Jordanian law, to review what was stated in Jordanian legislation on this issue and to explain its legal and practical dimensions.

Key words: public legal persons, intellectual property rights, patents, copyright law.
