HUMAN CAPITAL DEVELOPMENT GUIDELINES FOR SMALL HOTEL BUSINESS

Abstract
The trend of small hotel business in Thailand is continuously expanding and resulting in the competition between the operators more intensely. This qualitative research was conducted in 4-5-stars hotel in Bangkok. This research used in-depth interview as a tool for data collection and studied from relevant theories, articles, and previous related research, then administering content analysis. The 3 respondents of four-five stars hotel were hotel management. The objective is to propose the guidelines for human capital development for small hotel business from best-practices. The finding showed that the 4-5-stars are highly valued by their employees, which is a very important resource for the hotel business. Each of which has chosen the organization development plan together with excellent human capital development best-practice such as building morale, creating happiness for employees, resulting in a balanced work life and personal life, providing benefits and gratifying compensation, having supervisors with a vision of progress, training program, and creating employee motivation for guest service. Hence, human capital development will be able to make an organization successful and is a key factor for every organization in hospitality businesses succeed.
