EFFECT OF GADOLINIUM SUBSTITUTION ON STRUCTURAL AND OPTICAL PROPERTIES OF BARIUM FERRITE NANOPARTICLES.

Abstract
The BaFe12-xGdxO19 series with x= 0.0, 0.05, 0.1 and 0.15 were synthesized by sol-gel auto combustion method. The XRD patterns confirmed the absence of any impurity peak and the formation of single phase hexagonal structure. The UV studies revealed that band gap energy is increased with gadolinium substitution. The nonlinear properties are investigated by using open aperture Z-scan technique. The prepared samples showed better nonlinear properties even at very low input energy
The values of optical limiting parameters of the samples are better indicators for various nonlinear applications. To the best of our knowledge, a better nonlinear properties showed by the sample at very low input energy
has not been reported elsewhere.
