ANTIPROLIFERATIVE POTENTIAL OF PHYTOESTROGENS

Abstract
This review emphasize on the importance of phytoestrogens that shows diverse biological activity on women’s health and turned to be an important phytochemical for Hormonal Replacement Therapy . Also, Phytoestrogens are known to play a significant role in inhibition of tumors and they have been reported to affect the cellular process by acting on various signaling pathways. Genestein, Diadzein, Biochanin, Resveratrol which occurs predominantly in fruits, vegetables and soy products are found to show potent anti-proliferative property by inhibiting PTK, Topo 2, NF-KB, CYP450 and Cox-2 , they also regulate the expression of PTEN protein that plays a crucial role in cancer pathogenesis. Moreover, studies support that phytoestrogen stimulation results in conformational changes in various proteins associated with regulation of cell cycle. Thus evidence clearly defines that they can be a safe and effective alternate for treatment of various carcinomas especially the reproductive cancers.
