OPTIMIZED LOW POWER A/D CONVERTER FOR SIGNAL SPECIFIC APPLICATIONS

Abstract
The proposed architecture in this paper deals with the implementation of Analog to Digital converter (ADC) for N bits to consume low power. Among the different types, the Successive Approximation Register (SAR) is the most effective type of digital conversion mechanism from analog signal. To design the conventional model, the Dual Sampling Technique (DST) is applied. For the Most Significant Bit (MSB), the binary weighted capacitor array is used and for LSB bit array of C-2C capacitor is used. Consequently the CDAC structure designed will consume low power. Since the proposed design depends on low supply power, the bootstrapped circuit operation is enabled to implement rail to rail operation in Low Power SAR ADC. The design of the various circuits is implemented using 90nm and 180nm scaling technology. The design achieved an average power of 1.6339mW and 7.1743mW using 90nm and 180nm scaling technology respectively.
