OBSTACLES AND OPPORTUNITIES IN ADOPTING E-COMMERCE IN INDIA

Abstract
E-commerce is playing an important role in business and facilitates to explore it in near future. E commerce means anything that involves an online transaction or electronically. E-commerce is providing better choices to the customers to choose the products/goods at lower cost anytime anywhere. Modern communication instruments are involved in E-commerce for better business. The aim of this work is to explore the overall growth and the status of e-commerce in India. It also examines the different challenges and opportunities of e-commerce with regard to India. The research paper has used the secondary materials extensively. The paper finds out some opportunities with regard to India as it has already adopted modern IT Technologies with better broadband and different e-commerce businesses. But, adopting E-commerce in India is still facing many problems like poor infrastructure, geographical area, legal policies and illiteracy towards technology. The paper also suggests that a proper step should be taken by the government by developing strong cyber security law, developing ICT infrastructure and update legal frame works as Indian people are facing challenges towards e- commerce and private agencies should create awareness among people for effective implementation of e-commerce for sustainable economic growth. The paper also depicts the various obstacles and opportunities which Indian e-commerce industry may face in the upcoming years.
