Abstract
Financial inclusion (FI) is a policy concern of governments across the globe. Financial inclusion aims to provide entry to formal financial products to all individuals and families irrespective of their income, caste, creed, region, and religion and to the small and medium businesses in order to reduce poverty and inequality. Many initiatives have been taken to enhance financial inclusion as a supply side effort. In fact, knowledge of finance is a prelude to the accomplishment of financial inclusion initiatives. The amount of financial literacy among rural people is not satisfactory. Low knowledge of financial affairs is a constraint for the professional promotion of financial inclusion in rural areas. This research work intends to study and analyze the role of financial literacy on the financial inclusion of adult people in rural areas of Tamil Nadu.

Key words: Financial literacy, financial inclusion, awareness, financial products, and services, rural area, Tamil Nadu
