VISIBILITY IMPROVISATION IN LOW LIGHT IMAGES WITH WEIGHTED BLENDING OF ROBUST RETINEX MODEL AND FUSION BASED CONTRAST ENHANCEMENT METHOD

Abstract
Images taken under low light conditions or at night time to have significantly less details compared to images taken under proper lighting. For computer vision applications, these kind of images are not suitable as loss of visibility might result in undesirable output. It is also not very convenient for observation and for accurate analysis. To overcome this issue, visibility improvisation in low light images with weighted blending of robust retinex model and fusion based contrast enhancement method have been proposed in the literature. This paper proposes visibility improvisation in low light images with weighted blending of robust retinex model and fusion based contrast enhancement method. The entropy is used as performance metric to evaluate the performance of the proposed method and to compare it with other analogous methods. Different weightages are being explored in the proposed blending based visibility improvisation method.
