WOMEN: THE UNACCREDITED RATIONAL BEING AND THEIR CONTRIBUTION TOWARDS SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT

Sanshri Narzary, Nayanjyoti Boro.

Abstract
This is an attempt to reconstruct the social attitude of male towards women in public spaces and how
through discriminatory propensity between men and women, she realize that subjection of women in the household
was born out of force. Irrationality tags given by men in early periods are still being falsely carried by women.
Women are treated as inferior since time immemorial in the field of social-economy, literature, academic,
philosophy and science; false assumption of having less rational capacities; they were often regarded to be much
emotional, and that their emotion overpowered their feeling and always identify them as the second sex or the
other. Man still couldn't sense that they are microcosm of the macrocosm society. Men still find hard to value the
ideas and opinions of women in any fields and thus there are many discrepancy against women in many factors, like
with her physical body or be it in economic field, they have to satisfy in a low wages compared to Man. History
have shown that growth of Science and technology have parallel contributions of both the genders. Is it fair that
development of mankind in social advancements should be credited to only one particular gender? Is it not the time
to introspect ourselves? It is true that man and woman together constituted whole of human society. In order to
build-up a complete fair society the efforts of man as well as women should be taken into considerations. With our
observation along with the ideologies of female thinkers and feminist existentialist philosophers like Wollstonecraft,
Simone de Beauvoir and Martha Nussbaum, the paper brings out, why women are being called irrational, why
woman have been ignored in history in spite of being part of human development and how there is a little progress
in present.

Key words: Absolute being, capabilities, egalitarian perspective, Feminist existential, potentialities, rationality, social development, the second being
