A REVIEW OF QCA NANOTECHNOLOGY BASED ADDERS AND DESIGN OF COST-EFFICIENT RELIABLE COPLANAR RCA

Abstract
Adders are fundamental arithmetic blocks that are used in different computational systems.
Quantum-dot Cellular Automata nanotechnology functions by repulsion of electrons. It is a non-conventional
circuit design paradigm. Reliability is a critical phenomenon in QCA, since circuits are too small. In this work, a
reliable adder with better speed is proposed. The proposed adder generates Carry with 25% lesser clock phases,
8% lesser area and fewer cells compared to the existing reliable adder. A cost-efficient Ripple Carry Adder
(RCA) is realized using the proposed adder. The proposed RCA is 12.5% more cost efficient and fault tolerant
compared to other designs. Verification is done in QCADesigner
