APPLICATION OF MUDPRESS AS SOIL CONDITIONER TO PURPLE SWEET CORN FOR ENHANCE PRODUCTIVITY

Abstract
The study was conducted to evaluate the influence of mudpress soil conditioner on the growth,
yield, and quality of transplanted purple sweet corn. It was conducted at Sta. Isabel Sur, City of Ilagan, Isabela
(latitude of 177'34.76"N and a longitude of 1220'36.37") from June 28 to August 25, 2017. Treatments used
were T1 120 kg NPK hectare -1, T2 120 kg NPK hectare -1 + 2 tons mudpress per hectare, T3 120 kg NPK
hectare -1 + 4 tons mudpress per hectare, T4 120 kg NPK hectare + 6 tons mudpress per hectare and T5 6 tons
mudpress per hectare and laid out in Randomized Complete Block Design with three replications.
Inorganic fertilizer at the rate of 120-0-0 kg NPK and 4 to 6 tons mudpress per hectare attained the tallest plants
and ear height but no difference in plant height at 15 days after transplanting. The same trend also on the ear
length, ear weight and ear height but did not affect the sugar content. Highest return on investment was obtained in
the combination of 6 tons mudpress and recommended rate with a value of 744.27 percent. This integrated
nutrition is a good agricultural practice in purple sweet corn production.
