SOCIAL ISOLATION AND RACIAL DISCRIMINATION OF AKHDAM COMMUNITY: A CRITICAL STUDY OF AL-MUQRI'S BLACK TASTE BLACK SMELL

Abstract
The current study aims to unveil how social isolation and racial discrimination influence on the
community of Al- Akhdam in Yemen portrayed in Al-Muqri's Black Taste…Black, Smell. The concept of
Social isolation and racial discrimination plays a decisive role in terms of dealing with many types of
oppression , prosecution, exploitation and marginalization experienced by Akhadam community in
Yemen. The objective of this study is to explain how the social isolation and racial discrimination of
Akhdam affect different aspects of their life based on the color of their skin. It also aims to understand the
trends of these issues and examine its importance in Al-Muqri's novel. The paper presents a framework that
can be useful for understanding how to cure bad practices that excluded those people. Post-colonialism theory
sheds light on the issues of racism, isolation , marginalization and oppression According to postcolonial
perspective, Ali Al- Muqri's still stands against the issues of social isolation that affect Al- Akhdam
community in Yemen till now and to critically examine Al-Muqri‟s views in his selected text, Black taste …
Black Smell. Do the blacks have the right to obtain their equal rights with the members of society in Yemen
? Is it possible for the black children to enter schools and learn with the students? Do the blacks have the
right to enter the hospitals?, This is indicated by Ali Al-Maqri in his novel. It is concluded that Al -Muqri
highlights the suffering, persecution, social isolation and racial discrimination imposed on Al-Akhdam
community in Yemen in order to address these issues and integrate them into Yemeni society. Although
Al-Akhdam is a forgotten issue, Al-Muqri advocates for Akhdam members as a social class in order to
show their suffering, oppression, and deprivation of all aspects of educational , economic, social and political
life in front of the whole world to save them from bad and isolated life that destroyed on them
