Improving The Used Of Water Efficiency For Upland Rice Varieties Through The Organic Matter And The Site Specific Nutrient Management

Abstract
The research was conducted in Kwala Begumit Langkat, from August 2015 to January 2016. The objective of this research was conducted to determine the high yield and water use efficiency of upland rice varieties through organicmatter and site specific nutrient management. This research use randomized block design factorial consisting of 3 factors: Factor 1: varieties, ie V1 (Batutegi), V2 (Limboto), V3 (Situpatenggang), V4 (Lokal Sirapit), Factor II: organic matter, ie B0 (No organic matter application), B1 (Insitu), B2 (Granular), Factor III: Nutrient Management, ie P0 (No fertilizer application), P1 (Farmer practice), P2 (Site specific nutrient). Parameter observed were number of productive tillers, 1000 grain weight, harvest index, grain yield/plot, straw yield/plot, water use efficiency. The result of the research indicate Limboto and Batutegi can improved grain yield/plot and water use efficiency for upland rice varieties. Site specific nutrient management can improved grain yield/plot and water use efficiency for upland rice varieties.
