Perceptions and Experiencesof Omani Foundation Students regardingLanguage Anxiety: A Case Study

Abstract
This case study investigates the perceptions and experiences of English Foundation Programstudents in the University of Technology
and Applied Sciences Al-Musannah, Oman regarding foreign language anxiety (FLA).The researcherslooked into the scope and
seriousness of language anxiety among all those Foundation students, who had failed once in any level (from 1 to 4),to achieve a
deeper understanding of the possible factors behind anxiety regarding language learning and practices. The study also tried to
emphasize on some strategies that may be used to alleviate the negative effects of language anxiety. The findings suggest that some of
the students experienced low to moderate levels of anxiety in the English language classrooms which could be ascribed to
severalfactors. The findings highlight a few implications andrecommendations for future research
