    Abstract

    the present paper explores the differential engagements of various caste groups in various dimensions of ethnic Identity. The less dominant castes such as Mahajans and SCs are seen to be more oriented towards cultural and religious practices of dogra community as compared to dominant castes like Brahmins and Rajputs. However, with regards to political orientation and cuisine choices the dominant caste groups are observed to be more proactively engaged in political discourse and also seem to preserving dogra cuisine and delicacies. The caste dynamics are also seen to vary across the urban and rural areas.
