    Abstract

This analytical study examines the depiction of Indian culture in Vikram Seth's magnum opus "A Suitable Boy". Set in post-independence India, the novel is a sprawling narrative that weaves together the stories of several families from different backgrounds, offering a panoramic view of Indian society and its cultural complexities. Using a close reading approach, this study delves into the ways in which he portrays various cultural elements such as religion, caste, tradition, and modernity, and how they intersect and impact the lives of the characters. Overall, this study contributes to a deeper understanding of Indian culture and its representation in literature, and sheds light on the ways in which cultural dynamics shape individual experiences and identities. By exploring the cultural glimpses in "A Suitable Boy", this study highlights the complexity and diversity of Indian culture, and offers insights into the challenges and opportunities that arise from its interactions with other cultures
